Awesome Day at Stonehenge and the Roman Baths

What I Saw:

Today I went to Stonehenge and the Roman Baths.  At Stonehenge, I saw sheep on the road with different colored butts.

My Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the day was going to Stonehenge because I got to see all of the stone.

What I Learned Today:

Today I went to Stonehenge and the Roman Baths.  At Stonehenge, I learned that Stonehenge is more than 5,000 years old.  No one knows why or how it was built.  The stones they used to build Stonehenge are sarsen and bluestones.  I think that Stonehenge used to be a house that’s now tumbled down.

What I Saw:

Today I saw the Blarney Stone in the Blarney Castle.  In the Blarney Castle, I saw the Poison Garden too.  I saw Mandrakes in the Poison Garden.

My Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the day was kissing the Blarney Stone because I got the gift of eloquence.

What I Learned Today:

Today I went to the Blarney Castle.  At the Blarney Castle, I learned that if you kiss the Blarney Stone, you get the gift of eloquence.  The poison gardens have poisonous plants from around the world and in Harry Potter too.

Revisiting Egypt (in Madrid, Spain!)

What I Saw:

Today I saw an Egyptian Temple that had lots of hieroglyphics in it.  I also saw models of the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria.  I also saw a model of the Titanic.

My Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the day was going to the Egyptian Temple.  I got to read more hieroglyphics and to learn about the temple.

What I Learned Today:

Today I did lots of stuff.  I learned that the Titanic was going to be the unsinkable ship.  They tried something new…they had doors on the outside so when the water hot high, they would close the doors, the water would fill up some of the ship, but not sink.  It didn’t work when they hit the iceberg.

What I Saw:

Today I went to a city that has two walls and a castle inside.  It had lots of shops and restaurants.  It also had a big church.

My Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the day was going on the swings at the playground in the campsite.  I jumped off of the swing.

While I Learned Today:

When I was in Carcassonne, I learned lots of stuff.  I learned that Carcassonne is more that 2,000 years old.  The important people lived here until the 1600’s when the people left the city.  Parts of “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” were filmed here.

At the Eiffel Tower and Versailles in Paris, France

What I Saw Today:

Today I went to the Eiffel Tower where I climbed 688 steps to the 2nd platform.  We also we to 2 palaces today at Versailles.

My Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the day was climbing up the Eiffel Tower because we counted the steps.  There were 688 steps going up.

What I Learned Today:

Today I went to the Eiffel Tower.  At the Eiffel Tower, I learned that it was in the World’s Fair, and was used as the entrance.  It was built for in 1889 for the World’s Fair.  The World’s Fair was focused on technology and inventions.  It was awesome.

The Louvre and Notre Dame in Paris

What I Saw:

Today I saw the real Mona Lisa painting in the Louvre.  Today I also saw Notre Dame.  I went on a bus tour around Paris and saw the largest Lindt chocolate store.

My Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the day was going to the Egypt section at the Louvre.  I liked the Egypt section the best because I got to read the hieroglyphics.

What I Learned Today:

Today, when I went to the Louvre and Notre Dame, I learned a lot.  At the Louvre, I learned that Leonardo DiVinci painted the Mona Lisa and it took three years to paint it.  In Notre Dame, I learned that Notre Dame is made out of Limestone.  Victor Hugo wrote a book called The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which was famous.

Fun Day at the World’s Fair

What I Saw:

Today I went to the Expo Milan.  While I was there, I went to a kinder sport play place where you do lots of fun things.

My Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the day was going into the kinder sport play place.  It was my favorite part because I did lots of fun activities like rock climbing, horse riding and wind surfing.

What I Learned Today:

  • Coffee and cacao are mostly grown in Africa and South America
  • Chili has empanadas and delicious pancakes that are rolled like a taco but with caramel inside of it
  • Uganda has a lot of gorillas
  • It was a lot of fun

Playing in the Medieval Town of Rothenburg

What I Saw:

While I was in Rothenburg, I saw a view of the town when we climbed to the top of a tower.  We went around the town of Rothenburg where I protected the city from the wall.

My Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the day was waling along the entire wall.  I also liked drinking an entire bottle of apple cider, it was good.

What I Learned Today:

Today, I went to Rothenburg.  I learned that the city is build on a hill and is surrounded by a wall.  I learned that the funniest torture was tickling your fell, and they put salt on your feet so goats can come over and lick your feet until all the salt was gone.  I loved Rothenburg.

A Rainy Day in Heidelberg

What I Saw:

Today I went to Schloss Heidelberg.  Schloss Heidelberg holds the largest wine barrel in the world.  We also went on a tour around the inside of the castle.

My Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the day was eating the schneeballs.  My mom and dad did not like them, but I did.  A schneeball is like pie crust in a ball with a topping on it.  (chocolate, powdered sugar, cinnamon, etc)

What I Learned Today:

Today I went to Schloss Heidelberg.  I learned that Schloss Heidelberg holds the largest wine barrel in the world.  The wine barrel holds 220,000 Liters which seams like a lot to our point of view, but back then, they drank 1 Liter of wine per day.  The older it is, the better it gets.

Windmills, Clogs, and Cheese in Amsterdam

What I Saw:

Today I saw a real person’s body;  brain, heart, and their organs.  (**at the Body Works exhibit**)  I also went to the Anne Frank house where she was during World War II.  The next day, we saw a village where they make peanut oil in a windmill.  I went to a wooden shoe factory and got to put on a pair of them.

My Favorite Part of the Day:

My favorite part of the first day was going to the Fantastic Four.  I am going to make powers with DNA when I get home.  My favorite part of the next day was trying on the wooden shoes.  I can’t wait to make my own shoes.

What I Learned Today:

Today I learned that Anne Frank went into hiding in 1942.  Anne grew 13 cm while in hiding.  They could not flush the toilet because there were people in the warehouse below.  They were in hiding for 2 years in a tiny house for 8 people.  Anne wanted to be a good writer.  On our trip to the windmills, I learned that there used to be 30,000 windmills, but there are now 1,000.  I also learned that sheep’s poo stinks.  I know how to make cheese.  To make 6,000 liters of peanut oil from a windmill, it takes 1 year and in a factory it takes 10 minutes to make the same amount.
